Katrusia is only three years old.

At her age, our ward has already undergone complex surgery and knows very well what it's like to see a cardiologist every six months, or even more often. While pregnant, Katia's mother didn't know that her child was developing heart problems. The birth went well, and the girl immediately went home with her family. A month later, they visited the pediatrician for a routine check-up.

That's when the doctor first heard murmurs in the little girl's heart. She was sent for an ultrasound, but a final diagnosis was not made. The parents were assured that nothing threatened the child's life, so there was no reason to worry.

It was believed that this problem would most likely resolve itself. Once a year, the child was brought for an ultrasound to monitor developments. For several years, doctors in Cherkasy observed Katrusia's health.

Two examinations were successful and did not raise any suspicions, until this year when her condition suddenly began to deteriorate, her test results were very unsatisfactory, and her blood pressure was twice the normal level. From the Cherkasy region, the mother and child were sent to Kyiv. For several months, the family could not come for a check-up, and finally, this summer, they managed to get to the Amosov Heart Institute.

That's how Katia's heart surgery took place. Doctors quickly diagnosed her with hypertrophy of the pulmonary valve. They widened her heart valve and aorta and removed all defects. The operation was performed in 3 hours, and thanks to the skillful hands of the doctors, everything went successfully. After only two days, the girl was transferred from intensive care to a regular ward.

Fortunately, everything was done in time, and now the girl is no longer in danger.
