Valentyna’s Pregnancy and Delivery Went Well, but after birth, little Dmytryk didn’t cry… Only after a minute, with the help of artificial respiration, came the first breath of the long-awaited baby. Soon after came jaundice, pneumonia, and a month-long stay in the hospital.
After discharge, another shock awaited the family — a congenital heart defect. Doctors advised waiting until the age of two, hoping for a miracle. But instead of improvement, Dmytryk began suffering from nosebleeds, high blood pressure, and coughing.
In her constant search for help, his mother brought him to the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery, where he was diagnosed with Ebstein’s anomaly, a complex heart defect that required surgery.
The four and a half hours of surgery felt like an eternity for the mother. Yet a miracle happened — the operation was successful, and Dmytryk was given a chance at a new life.
Today, he is active, cheerful, and dreams of playing basketball. Doctors still limit his physical activity, but the very fact that he can run and play is already a huge victory.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the Lancôme brand for their support during the most difficult time. Thanks to their help, Dmytryk was provided with all the necessary medications during and after the surgery at the Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.
This became possible within the framework of the “Big Little Heart” project for St. Nicholas Day 2024.
