When a little heart needs help.

Today, little Nazar is already recovering after surgery and regaining strength. He, like most boys, loves to play with cars, and he also adores cuddling in his mother's arms. Most likely, he won't even remember all the examinations he had to go through in the first years of his life.

His mother's pregnancy was uncomplicated, and the birth also went well, but the boy spent the first month of his life in the pathology department for newborns. He had a low bilirubin level in his body, so he required constant medical supervision. It was here that Nazar was diagnosed with a heart defect. The little one was thoroughly examined in Mukachevo and treated with medication, but at four months old, he was referred to the M.M. Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.

Doctors at the Institute established the final diagnosis - perimembranous ventricular septal defect. Such a defect requires surgical intervention, but the boy was still very small and gaining weight poorly. Therefore, it was decided to wait with the operation so that Nazar could grow a little. His medication treatment continued, and mandatory medical examinations were scheduled every three months.

When the boy was one year and eight months old, his mother brought him for another examination, after which it was decided to perform surgery to close the ventricular septal defect.

Everything went very well! Nazar tolerated the three-hour surgery well and spent one day in intensive care afterward.

Doctors cannot yet say whether the child will need repeat surgeries - time and observation are needed. But the main thing is that the first steps towards recovery have already been taken.

The "Big Little Heart" project continues to help little Ukrainians! We wish our hero a speedy recovery and strong health.

And we were able to help Nazar thanks to #Charity_chain, a joint project of the "Tvoya opora" Foundation and the Guzema Jewelry brand. It was thanks to this project that the boy was provided with all the necessary medications and medical supplies during the surgery and in intensive care.
