The parents had no idea that anything could go wrong with their little one. All the tests were normal, so they only learned about the heart defect after the birth.

Dmytryk's mother gave birth naturally. His weight was 3,100 g and his height was 53 cm. However, his condition was unsatisfactory. Fortunately, the doctors immediately noticed heart murmurs and sent him to Kyiv for a thorough examination. Usually, such a diagnosis is accompanied by a number of complications, but if you react in time, the child has a good chance of recovery.

From their hometown of Rivne, the family went to Kyiv to the Amosov Institute. The baby was not even a year old. Local doctors confirmed the diagnosis and scheduled surgery for October 26th. It lasted 5 hours. It was a Blalock-Taussig shunt, during which the baby's transposition of the arteries was corrected.

The boy spent two days in intensive care. He spent a few more days in a regular ward, but he is recovering very quickly. Doctors are currently monitoring his condition. The parents are very worried about the baby's health. And his older sister is already very much looking forward to her little brother's return home. Doctors predict another surgery, but for now they are monitoring the speed of his recovery.
