A little heart that wants to live.

Sometimes the fight against illness begins even before birth. This is exactly what happened to little Regina. The child's diagnosis – an aneurysm of the auricle of the right atrium – was learned by her parents at the 30th week of the mother's pregnancy; at the same time, it became known that it was enormous in size.

From then on, a desperate struggle for the life of the unborn child began. The last month of pregnancy, the mother spent under the close supervision of doctors at the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she was referred from Cherkasy. After 40 weeks of pregnancy, the family finally saw little Regina, but, unfortunately, immediately after birth, the girl ended up in intensive care, where she spent 5 days.

After an examination at the M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, it was decided that the surgery should be postponed to allow the child to gain strength and grow a little. So, Regina spent the first year of her life preparing for a serious operation, constantly visiting doctors who monitored the course of the disease.

Arriving for a scheduled check-up at the Amosov Institute in October 2021, the family learned that they could no longer wait and surgery was necessary.

It's hard to imagine what the parents went through during the 3.5 hours of the operation, during which the aneurysm was excised. No less tense was the day Regina spent in intensive care.

It is not yet known whether the girl will need repeat surgery. Doctors talk about the need for supervision, observation, and regular visits to doctors.

But we believe that our little heroine will overcome everything, and the Diachenko family will live a normal life.

Thanks to the #Charity Chain project – a joint project of the "Tvoya opora" charitable foundation and the Guzema Jewelry brand – the girl was provided with the necessary medications and medical supplies, and the foundation's project with Synevo makes it possible to provide children with the important drug "Custodiol," without which no such surgery can do.
