Five hours of surgery: a healthy heart for a brave boy.

Rostyk is a very brave and courageous boy! He was born with a congenital heart defect – partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection. He had his first surgery at the age of one. Back then, everything went very well: the child had the atrial septal defect corrected, and the little one tolerated everything well. After discharge, he was constantly under medical supervision and underwent check-ups with a cardiologist every three months. Rostyk was contraindicated to strain his heart, so his mother carefully ensured that her boy was not too active, and for a child who is curious about everything around him, behaving calmly is very difficult.

After a scheduled check-up at the beginning of summer, doctors in Cherkasy advised the mother to additionally examine her son at the M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. Here, the boy was immediately hospitalized and underwent a second surgery, during which the veins were put in their proper places. Rostyk tolerated the five-hour surgery well and spent only one day in intensive care.

Currently, doctors say that our little hero needs to undergo periodic examinations. All surgeries performed were radical, so there is hope that no further ones will be needed. We are happy that another child has received help within the "Big Little Heart" project! And we sincerely wish Rostyk a speedy recovery!
