During childbirth, everything was fine, but around the third week, her parents became concerned about her condition. During the examination, the doctor heard heart murmurs. Bohdanka showed all the signs of a congenital heart defect. She was very small and frail and ate very poorly.

However, intervention was not yet safe, as her body was very weak and might not survive the surgery. The family was sent home and told to come back in 3 months. The parents did so. From Vinnytsia, they received a referral to the Amosov Heart Institute.

Already in Kyiv, they were sent home again. The baby needed to get stronger to cope with such a complex burden, because heart surgery is not easy for such a tiny body. They waited until Bohdanka was six months old, and then finally decided on the date of the surgery.

They stitched up a hole – a defect that prevented the girl's normal development. Due to insufficient oxygenation of the body and frequent heart rhythm disruptions, she was so weak and could not gain weight. Doctors worked for 4 hours to correct the defect, and it took another 5 days to nurse the girl back to health and normalize her condition. While under close supervision in her hometown, she is awaiting a follow-up consultation at the Amosov Institute.

We are happy that thanks to caring people who joined the Charity Chain project – a joint project of the Guzema Fine Jewelry brand and the "Tvoya opora" charitable foundation – and the joint project with Synevo, we managed to raise enough funds to provide the girl with the necessary medications during her stay in intensive care.

Doctors cannot say for sure whether more surgeries will be needed, but we all believe in the best.
