Saving Newborns: Critically Important Medical Facilities Receive Modern Neonatal Ambulances

The “Tvoya Opora” Charitable Foundation, in partnership with PepsiCo Ukraine, has delivered three state-of-the-art neonatal ambulances to Ukrainian hospitals.
This large-scale charity project, worth over $1 million USD, was launched to help overcome the consequences of a devastating missile strike on the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital.

Ukrainian hospitals where babies are born and children receive treatment have received three modern neonatal ambulances.
Built on the Volkswagen Crafter platform, these emergency vehicles are fully equipped with top-tier medical technology from leading European manufacturers.
Each ambulance includes a transport incubator, mechanical ventilator, newborn-safe transport unit, stretcher, and a dual-channel infusion pump for simultaneous delivery of two medications.

This equipment allows medical teams to perform life-saving procedures during transport, which is vital for both newborns and critically ill adult patients.
Thanks to the close collaboration between “Tvoya Opora” and PepsiCo Ukraine, these vehicles were purchased and delivered to three key medical institutions.
“Ambulances for critically important medical institutions are more than just equipment — they are a lifeline for those who need it most.
We’re doing everything we can to help doctors save children’s lives.
It’s our responsibility to the future, and it’s incredibly important that businesses recognize and support this mission.
I’m deeply proud of this project and our powerful partnership with PepsiCo, which helps make the world a better place for children,”
said Valeria Tatarchuk, founder of the Tvoya Opora Foundation.

PepsiCo Ukraine is actively involved in funding socially impactful initiatives.
“Our business is not only about delivering quality products but also about supporting local communities and economic stability.
Last year, PepsiCo Ukraine invested nearly 200 million UAH in charitable projects.
We are proud to help Ukrainian children’s hospitals by providing them with modern equipment so doctors can save even more young lives,”
said Kateryna Turchaninova, Head of Public Relations at PepsiCo Ukraine.

The new ambulances were delivered to:

  • Kyiv Perinatal Center (KNP)
A high-level medical facility serving patients from across Ukraine, providing specialized obstetric and gynecological care.
In 2024 alone, 110 newborns underwent surgery here since March.

  • Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (Ministry of Health of Ukraine)
The largest specialized pediatric cardiac center in Ukraine and one of the biggest in Europe.
It provides over 20,000 consultations and performs more than 1,000 heart surgeries on children annually — often within the first hours of life.

  • Regional Medical Center for Family Health (Dnipro)
The only facility in Dnipropetrovsk region offering highly specialized care for children, mothers at high perinatal risk, and injured civilians from front-line areas.
It provides around 60,000 pediatric consultations annually.
“Most children with congenital heart defects are referred to our center, where we perform urgent surgeries.
Often, our surgeons operate directly in maternity hospitals and then continue treatment at our cardiac center,”
said Andriy Maksymenko, Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Center.
“Preterm births in Kyiv account for about 7%, or roughly 910 babies each year.
They need medical support and life-saving treatment from their very first moments.
Given the city’s geography, this would be impossible without modern transportation, which not only moves infants but also allows for treatment en route,”
added Dmytro Hovseiev, Director of the Kyiv Perinatal Center.

Since the start of the full-scale war, the Dnipro Regional Family Health Center has also been providing care to injured children and adults from front-line areas.
“Our ambulances respond to calls from cities under constant shelling.
Medical teams must act quickly, often performing resuscitation right in the vehicle.
We treat premature babies, those born with critical conditions, and children with birth defects.
They require emergency care and specialized transport with heating, ventilation, medication delivery systems, and monitoring,”
said Oksana Kapustina, Deputy Director of the Dnipro Regional Family Health Center.
“We are incredibly grateful to our trusted partner PepsiCo Ukraine for joining us in saving children's lives.”
