Instead of a happy childhood, fate prepared this boy for a long struggle for life and disappointing prognoses for the future. Even before his birth, doctors noted characteristic signs of fetal abnormalities. And that's exactly what happened.

The delivery was difficult, and the child was born with blue skin, indicating insufficient oxygenation of the body. The little one was left in the hospital for two months. He had very low birth weight, so doctors tried to help him gain some strength to prepare for further examinations and treatment. Eventually, the boy was sent to Kyiv to establish an accurate diagnosis and plan further actions.

Cantrell's pentalogy is a rare congenital disorder characterized by a combination of five defects: a defect in the anterior abdominal wall, the lower part of the sternum, the anterior part of the diaphragm and the diaphragmatic pericardium, and a range of congenital heart defects. In the case of our hero, the diagnosis of Cantrell's pentalogy was accompanied by a ventricular septal defect and patent ductus arteriosus. The best solution was to operate, and then operate again.

A year later, in 2013, Tymofiy underwent his first surgery at the Amosov Institute. After it, the little boy gained weight very slowly and for a long time. His grandmother, who took care of her grandson, tried to do everything to protect him from potential risks.

The boy started school a year later than his peers. Despite this, he showed a great love for active pursuits, which on the one hand greatly pleased the doctors. But at the same time, everyone understood that any physical exertion could still be dangerous until all the defects were corrected.

Therefore, his grandmother hid his bicycle and ball, and his peers came up with different games that the boy could also play. Otherwise, Tymofiy's heart might not withstand it. Together with his grandmother, who became both his mother and his best friend, they slowly moved towards recovery.

The next significant step was this year's surgery. In October 2021, the little boy's ventricular septal defect was closed. The surgery lasted 10 hours and 30 minutes and turned out to be quite complex. However, now everything is fine. The boy is recovering quickly, and doctors say that no more surgeries will be needed, only regular check-ups to monitor his health.

Thanks to two projects, namely Charity Chain – a joint project of the Guzema Fine Jewelry brand and the "Tvoya opora" charitable foundation – the boy was provided with the necessary medications and medical supplies, and thanks to the joint project of the foundation and "Synevo," the children are provided with the very important drug Custodiol, without which no such surgery can do. We wish the boy a speedy recovery and the fulfillment of all his dreams, and his grandmother strength and good health.
