The whole family eagerly awaited the birth of little Arkhip. The boy was the third and much-desired child in the family. The mother's pregnancy proceeded without complications or peculiarities, but after giving birth, she was informed that the child was born with Down syndrome and also had a congenital heart defect — an incomplete atrioventricular septal defect.

The parents decided that they would definitely fight for Arkhip's health, so they immediately began looking for treatment options for the boy. After the boy's birth, surgery was not possible due to the presence of Down syndrome. Therefore, for the first year, the child gained strength and was under medical supervision.

When Arkhip was one year and two months old, his mother brought him for examination to the M.M. Amosov National Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. After the examinations, the family received joyful news – the boy could already undergo surgery.

During the three-hour operation, plastic surgery of the anterior leaflet was performed, as well as enlargement of the defect for normal blood circulation. Arkhip tolerated the surgery well, spent four days in intensive care afterward, and then returned to his family. The "Big Little Heart" project made it possible to give a healthy heart to another child! No repeat surgery is needed.

Now Arkhip should visit a cardiologist quite often to monitor his condition, but from now on, he can bravely explore the world around him and bring joy to his loved ones. The project of our foundation with Synevo helped to provide the drug "Custodiol," the use of which is extremely necessary during open-heart surgery.
