During childbirth, there was no hint of illness.

Serhiyko was born into a large family of a simple lumberjack from Transcarpathia. For his mother, this was her 5th child, so there were no worries before the birth. The woman had check-ups with doctors throughout her pregnancy and had good prognoses.

Serhiyko's family lives in the Transcarpathian region, in the Mizhhirskyi district. After the birth, the baby was immediately examined and sent home. At first, he was active, loved watching cartoons, playing with friends, but later his mother began to notice a developmental delay. He was not gaining weight well. His mother became worried when the child couldn't even sit up on his own and started having shortness of breath, so she urgently went for a check-up.

From their hometown, they were sent to the Amosov Heart Institute. The doctors confirmed the parents' fears. The boy had a congenital heart defect – an atrioventricular septal defect. This heart defect combines the development of a number of developmental anomalies: an atrial septal defect and a common atrioventricular valve that problematically allows blood to pass between the chambers of the small heart, and a ventricular septal defect.

The problem with such a defect is that for a long time it can be asymptomatic, but very quickly and suddenly complicates the work of the heart. The doctors examined the little one. The verdict – surgery is undoubtedly needed.

The little boy underwent radical correction of the atrioventricular septal defect. The operation lasted 3.5 hours, and very soon the little boy was transferred to a regular ward. The parents are sincerely grateful to all caring people, because collecting such funds on their own is practically impossible. And we are very happy that now everything will be fine with Serhiy.
